England's World Cup last-16 match against Mexico will kick off at its originally scheduled time on Sunday following discussions over possibly bringing the start of the game forward due to storms, a source close to the arrangements said Friday.

[p]Reports in Britain and Mexico said earlier on Friday that FIFA was planning to move the kick-off at the Estadio Azteca from 18:00 local time (02:00 CET) to midday (20:00 CET) due to concerns over forecast storms and flooding in Mexico City on Sunday.[/p][p]However a source with knowledge of the FIFA discussions said Friday that the game would start at its original time, emphasising that "no decision was ever made to reschedule KO time".[/p][embed guid="f88350ff-5c27-4165-a666-9a9b5248387d" url="https://x.com/David_Ornstein/status/2073182496728952875" social-type="twitter" /][p]When asked about the potential change in kick-off, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/england/j9N9ZNFA/"]England[/a] forward [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/rashford-marcus/COnT2Lh0/"]Marcus Rashford[/a] said at training on Friday it would not be "ideal" but that players would take it in their stride.[/p][p]"How we prepare for the game, it has to remain the same. We have to be focused, we have to be ready for anything," Rashford said.[/p][p]"I think it's one-in-one strength of the group. Everyone is really good, players and staff," he added.[/p][p]"We're ready for whatever challenges (are thrown at us. Obviously, it's not ideal, but also it doesn't mean anything."[/p][infobox id="4ccc1b10-d68f-4c97-bcf4-5e613c17c2e3" /]
