Jens Berthel Askou leaves Motherwell to take up new position as coach of Toulouse

The Dane, 43-year-old Jens Berthel Askou (43), coming from Scottish side Motherwell, is the new coach of Toulouse, replacing Spaniard Carles Martínez Novell (42), the French club announced this Thursday.

[p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/askou-jens/Y5Io0KUp/"]Askou[/a] led [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/motherwell/YuW7ZfMM/"]Motherwell[/a] to fourth place in the Scottish league and now joins [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/toulouse/MLmY2yB1/"]Toulouse[/a] on a contract whose duration was not disclosed.[/p][p]This former central defender previously coached in Denmark and the Faroe Islands, where he achieved a league and cup double with HB Torshavn in 2020.[/p][p]He was also an assistant at Czech side Sparta Prague and Danish club FC Copenhagen, as well as head coach of IFK Göteborg in Sweden.[/p][p]Toulouse finished 10th in the French Ligue 1 2025-2026, which ended last weekend.[/p]
