Zion Suzuki set for Aston Villa move after overcoming mistakes and racist abuse

Zion Suzuki has had to overcome costly mistakes and racist abuse on the way to becoming the most expensive Japanese goalkeeper in history.

[p]The 23-year-old will be the first Japanese goalkeeper in Premier League history when he seals his move to [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/aston-villa/W00wmLO0/"]Aston Villa[/a] from Italian team [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/parma/6DxlaxHN/"]Parma[/a] for up to 35 million euros (£29.9m).[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/suzuki-zion/4bDDVvmT/"]Suzuki[/a], who was previously linked with [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/manchester-united/ppjDR086/"]Manchester United[/a], was born in New Jersey to a Ghanaian father and Japanese mother and moved to Japan at a young age.[/p][p]After coming through Japanese football he moved to Belgium then Italy and has already won 28 caps for his country.[/p][p]Suzuki, who appeared set to join Champions League winners [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/psg/CjhkPw0k/"]Paris Saint-Germain[/a] before Villa came calling, believes he has the tools to make it in the Premier League.[/p][p][b]"Of course big saves are important but above all I want to become a goalkeeper who brings stability to the team,"[/b] Suzuki told FIFA's website ahead of the World Cup, where he played a central role in Japan reaching the last 32.[/p][p][b]"Doing the simple things well consistently.
