The Dallas Mavericks fired head coach Jason Kidd on Tuesday after five seasons with the team.

[p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/kidd-jason/UNsTAAqN/"]Kidd[/a], 53, led the [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/dallas-mavericks/YouS3mEC/"]Mavericks[/a] to a 26-56 record this past season - their worst since 1995-1996 when the franchise posted the same record. He finished his time in Dallas with a 205-205 record and one Western Conference Championship (2023-2024). [/p][embed guid="3ae87e27-1503-4ac1-8e1f-dd78ddbe8a99" url="https://x.com/dallasmavs/status/2056873453072929098?s=20" social-type="twitter" /][p]Kidd will now be looking for his new landing spot and possibly his sixth new team since becoming a coach in the league he was once a force in. He started his NBA coaching career with the Brooklyn Nets (2013-2014) before moving on to the Milwaukee Bucks for the next four years (2014-2017). [/p][p]After taking a season off (2018) from coaching, Kidd came back into the league as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers for a couple of years (2019-2020). Then, he got back in the saddle again with the Mavs in 2021. [/p][p]Kidd's lone year in Brooklyn is the only tenure with a team where he left with a winning record. Before finishing 205-205 with the Mavericks, he left Milwaukee with a 139-152 record, losing in the first round of the NBA playoffs in three of his five years with them. [/p]
