The problems for Clara Tauson continued on Tuesday afternoon when she suffered her seventh successive defeat in the first round of the WTA tournament Berlin Open.

[p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/tauson-clara/2PPTHPya/"]Clara Tauson[/a]'s last singles victory was on 6 March 2026, when she defeated [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/putintseva-yulia/W2BCKjLQ/"]Yulia Putintseva[/a] in the round of 64 at the Indian Wells Open.[/p][p]Tauson has not won a tennis match in 102 days. In the first round of the WTA 500 tournament in Berlin, Germany, Tauson lost in two sets, 3-6, 4-6, to France's [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/parry-diane/hQQLzcNT/"]Diane Parry[/a].[/p][p]The French woman, ranked 60th in the world, broke Tauson's serve once in each set, and as Tauson couldn't convert her break points, Parry moved on to the next round. [/p][p]The Danish tennis player has now slipped to 23rd in the world rankings. At her most recent victory on 6 March, she was ranked 16th. Since then, the Dane has played seven matches. She has not been able to finish two of them due to injuries, and the other five have been lost.[/p][p]The tournament in Berlin was Tauson's penultimate warm-up tournament before Wimbledon. Next week is her last chance to get a win before Wimbledon, when she takes part in the WTA tournament in Bad Homburg, Germany.[/p][embed guid="0edd5be8-6b15-4e65-a47c-3a640b8ffd21" url="https://x.com/EtienneGoursaud/status/2066911543845908748" social-type="twitter" /][p]In the first set on Tuesday, Tauson managed to hang on until 2-2, but then she started to look fragile. When Parry then began to exploit her opportunities, it was the beginning of the end for Tauson. [/p][p]Parry broke serve to make it 4-2, and as Tauson struggled to earn break points in the French service games, Parry served home the set. [/p][p]There were otherwise encouraging tendencies in Tauson's play from the beginning of the second set. Tauson started by holding serve and subsequently played her way to several break points, but a couple of unprovoked errors spoiled the Dane's chance for a perfect start.[/p][p]Instead, the second set developed into a repeat of the first set. Parry turned the tide in her favour with the only break of the set at 3-3, and in the following game, she ensured that Tauson could not respond with a couple of terrific serves.[/p][p]An effortless Danish service game gave a small hope of a turnaround, but it did not last long. The unprovoked errors continued to arrive in a steady stream from Tauson's racket, and Parry converted her second match point to seal the victory. [/p]
