Bangladesh want to seize a rare opportunity against a depleted Australia, captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz said on Monday on the eve of a three-match ODI series.

[p]However, stand-in [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/australia/OxG0JfXg/"]Australia[/a] skipper Josh [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/inglis-josh/fy2GJ5Iu/"]Inglis[/a] insisted his young squad were ready to bounce back after [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/pakistan/tS3K91g9/"]Pakistan[/a] beat Australia 2-1 in an ODI series this month.[/p][p]"This is a great challenge and a big opportunity - we haven't played Australia for a long time," [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/hasan-mehidy/zst1guti/"]Mehidy[/a] said before the first match at Mirpur on Tuesday.[/p][p]"Everyone is in good form... If we can perform at our best, we can get a result," he said.[/p][p]Australia arrived without captain [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/marsh-mitchell/UovVueNf/"]Mitchell Marsh[/a] and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/head-travis/EiBJThAd/"]Travis Head[/a], and Inglis acknowledged that their absence hurt.[/p][p]Both players also missed Australia's defeat in Pakistan last week, with Marsh nursing an ankle injury and Head on personal leave.[/p][p]"I think it's really important that a few younger guys are getting some experience in these conditions," Inglis said.[/p][p]"There's a World Cup on the horizon, so being able to look at different combinations before then is really important."[/p][embed guid="81ce86bd-12ee-4caf-b4f0-4843a71287b1" url="https://x.com/Maina_Singhx77/status/2063938754298118592" social-type="twitter" /][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/bangladesh/2of97jms/"]Bangladesh[/a] have won just one of 22 ODIs against Australia. However, Mehidy said their confidence was high after winning three successive series against [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/west-indies/jTD1lMfO/"]West Indies[/a], Pakistan and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/new-zealand/G6PWlrQB/"]New Zealand[/a].[/p][p]Home conditions would also play to their strengths.[/p][p]"Mirpur doesn't have to mean a bad wicket," he said. "If we can win on good wickets it builds confidence -- and that's important with the World Cup coming."[/p][p]Inglis, who played IPL cricket in India this year, said Australia would reserve judgment on the surface until closer to the toss.[/p][p]He said conditions could be more seam-friendly than expected based on Bangladesh's recent home series against New Zealand.[/p][p]"We'll do our homework, look at the games played here recently, and make a judgment," he said. "We're ready for anything."[/p][p]Both captains flagged Bangladesh leg-spinner [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/hossain-rishad/IkpUWQHl/"]Rishad Hossain[/a] as a potential match-winner.[/p][p]Inglis, whose side includes several players familiar with Rishad through the Big Bash League, said Australia would prepare for him carefully.[/p][p]"He's a very good bowler -- we'll definitely be having some conversations about him," Inglis said.[/p][p]Bangladesh and Australia play three ODIs on June 9, 11 and 14 and then play three T20s.[/p]
