[p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/los-angeles-dodgers/nwPDBpVc/"]Los Angeles[/a] are now 7-1 in Postseason Game 1s dating back to 2024. Their only loss was in last year's World Series against the [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/toronto-blue-jays/zcDLaZ3b/"]Toronto Blue Jays[/a].[/p][p]Starting pitcher [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/skubal-tarik/zuS2jB1J/"]Tarik Skubal[/a] gave up one run on two hits and two walks with seven strikeouts through six innings in his first Postseason start with the Dodgers. Veteran lefty [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/snell-blake/voXTtX9q/"]Blake Snell[/a] will take the mound in Game 2, while reigning World Series MVP [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/yamamoto-yoshinobu/GUKDW5Vu/"]Yoshinobu Yamamoto[/a] will start Game 3. [/p][p]The Dodgers finished with eight hits to the [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/atlanta-braves/0UPxbDYA/"]Braves[/a]' four - the fewest they've hit this Postseason so far - their quest for a three-peat begins. [/p][embed guid="82dc2ffd-d70e-476b-850b-7bf9ffd9ee9f" url="https://x.com/MLB/status/2106517787736952954?s=20" social-type="twitter" /]
Recap
[p]Atlanta Braves starting pitcher, but usual reliever, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/dodd-dylan/2JDgg7eo/"]Dylan Dodd[/a] was taken out after the first three innings, despite giving up just two hits and no walks with four strikeouts. And it came back to bite them. [/p][p]After both teams went scoreless through the first three innings with a combined three hits (ATL - 1, LAD - 2), it was [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/hernandez-teoscar/h0syi8VM/"]Teoscar Hernandez[/a] who got the Dodgers on the board first with a two-run shot in the fourth off [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/mederos-victor/z91Qwdl6/"]Victor Mederos[/a].[/p][p]The home run marked Hernandez's 11th career Postseason home run. It kept his big streak alive as he has now homered in nine straight Postseason series. [/p][embed guid="3ffcd154-c2da-48f8-8f7d-4f72e75bc8fb" url="https://x.com/MLB/status/2106492482611794169?s=20" social-type="twitter" /][p]Skubal began to heat up heading into of the sixth inning. He had retired 15 straight batters after giving up a single to [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/baldwin-drake/vkMI9T7o/"]Drake Baldwin[/a] in the first at-bat of the game, including [a href="https://x.com/MLB/status/2106487267347063034?s=20" target="_blank"]striking out the side during the top of the third[/a]. [/p][p]However, Atlanta's [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/murphy-sean/tpGqJ2Ei/"]Sean Murphy[/a] cooled him off with a solo shot to pull the Braves within one. It marked his third career Postseason home run and his first since 2020 when he was on the [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/athletics/xIYDcQid/"]Athletics[/a].[/p][embed guid="d2802375-368e-473d-804c-56b725ba9850" url="https://x.com/MLB/status/2106499368450994583?s=20" social-type="twitter" /][p]The Braves had their first runner in scoring position since the first inning during the top of the sixth. With two outs, Braves' star slugger [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/olson-matt/GvvV3tAQ/"]Matt Olson[/a] stepped into the box. But with a 2-2 count, Skubal got Olson to pop up to avoid any further damage. [/p][p]And the Braves soon regretted not being able to take advantage of the situation when they should've.[/p][p]In the bottom half of the sixth, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/tucker-kyle/0xBFfa4q/"]Kyle Tucker[/a] launched his 10th career Postseason home to give the Dodgers a [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/baseball/atlanta-braves-0UPxbDYA/los-angeles-dodgers-nwPDBpVc/?mid=84uJpWW1"]4-1[/a] lead.[/p][embed guid="c98284ae-af4d-4c93-bf7b-b0ebb1cbe367" url="https://x.com/MLB/status/2106503997540679783?s=20" social-type="twitter" /][p]Shortly after, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/muncy-max/n17Lr7qM/"]Max Muncy[/a] smacked the Dodgers' third home run of the game to put the team up 5-1.
