Habib Beye earned his first victory as Olympique de Marseille manager after a dramatic late brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang secured a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Olympique Lyonnais in Ligue 1.

[p]Having seen their 13-game winning streak come to an end last time out against RC Strasbourg, Paulo Fonseca’s side travelled to [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/marseille/SblU3Hee/"]Marseille[/a] determined to bounce back.[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/lyon/2akflumR/"]Lyon[/a] needed only three minutes at the Stade Vélodrome to do just that, as [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/endrick/bXHrpEJ4/"]Endrick[/a]’s cushioned pass on the edge of the box was clinically swept into the net by [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/tolisso-corentin/hQOIoFOs/"]Corentin Tolisso[/a] for the Frenchman’s third goal in as many matches.[/p][p]The hosts recovered well from that early setback, though, with [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/greenwood-mason/hxe108Jl/"]Mason Greenwood[/a] seeing a pair of efforts smartly saved by [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/greif-dominik/ID9k7lap/"]Dominik Greif[/a], while at the other end, Endrick lifted a strike narrowly over the bar after a superb solo run.[/p][p]Chances continued to flow as the first half progressed, but [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/rulli-geronimo/rcbM0Dd8/"]Geronimo Rulli[/a] stood firm in the Marseille goal to thwart [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/yaremchuk-roman/vuhK9J78/"]Roman Yaremchuk[/a] when the Ukrainian failed to convert a glorious one-on-one opportunity.[/p][image alt="Match momentum" id="aab91209-2b46-4782-8b3d-d71f2d703aa3" credit-line="Opta by StatsPerform" guid="ac0d1ab4-b6e8-42c2-946d-18b79fb09368" original-width="1920" original-height="1080" /][p]Determined to see an improved second-half display from his side, Habib Beye introduced [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/paixao-igor/EuBBEVVq/"]Igor Paixao[/a] at the interval, and the Brazilian made an immediate impact, cutting in from the left flank and curling a spectacular long-range strike into the top corner. [/p][p]Armed with the momentum that goal created, Marseille went in pursuit of a quickfire second, as Greenwood and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/aubameyang-pierre-emerick/Wl4EyKZk/"]Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang[/a] both missed the target when well-placed in the box.[/p][p]Les Phocéens’ profligacy in front of goal proved to be costly in the 76th minute when substitute [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/himbert-remi/Ye5mVEh2/"]Remi Himbert[/a] tucked a brilliant low finish across Rulli and into the far corner to restore Lyon’s lead heading into the final quarter-hour.[/p][image alt="Key match stats" id="22f943e8-1d0c-4b3b-9007-ebe93afdc764" credit-line="Opta by StatsPerform" guid="fc25ab0b-9f0d-4359-8b14-cd1efb75e81f" original-width="1080" original-height="1080" /][p]However, the visitors’ joy was ultimately short-lived, as Paixao’s cross was converted by Aubameyang just five minutes later to set up a grandstand finale.[/p][p]Both sides committed numbers forward in pursuit of a late winner, and it was Marseille who found the all-important moment of quality in stoppage time when Aubameyang tapped home from [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/nwaneri-ethan/lxyovn2o/"]Ethan Nwaneri[/a]’s cut-back to send the home support into raptures.[/p][embed guid="73013b82-f32b-491a-9270-21b1fa4a6423" url="https://x.com/OM_English/status/2028228392676454790" social-type="twitter" /][p]Stunned by the Gabonese’s late brace, Lyon were unable to respond in the closing stages as the hosts ended their four-game winless league run in the most dramatic of circumstances to move within two points of Fonseca’s men in the table.[/p][p]Flashscore Man of the Match: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/paixao-igor/EuBBEVVq/"]Igor Paixao[/a] (Marseille)[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/lyon-2akflumR/marseille-SblU3Hee/summary/stats/?mid=UR8pT0Sb"]Catch up on the match stats with Flashscore.[/a][/p]
