Around six months after their 7-1 humiliation in the group stage, Bayern Munich who recently celebrated their 11th successive German title shook off their Barcelona trauma to reach a 1-1 draw against the Spanish favorites in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final, despite having Franziska Kett sent off, and now still have a chance at reaching their first ever final ahead of the return leg next Sunday at Camp Nou.

[p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/kett-franziska/GdYeTG5B/"]Franziska Kett[/a] kept the home side in the tie with her goal in front of [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/barcelona-YFBOvfnB/bayern-munich-vkjy3nF9/?mid=K2qSxxeo"]31,000 fans at the Allianz Arena[/a] after 69 minutes. But just ten minutes later, the German international was shown a straight red card for pulling [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/paralluelo-salma/fiz5wwTq/"]Salma Paralluelo[/a] by the hair.[/p][p]Bayern coach José Barcala was also shown red by referee Ivana Martinčić for his protests, which were futile because a VAR check confirmed Kett’s foul.[/p][p]Earlier, former Wolfsburg player Ewa Pajor (8') had put Barca, who are aiming for their sixth consecutive final, into the lead.[/p][p]"A tricky situation. She definitely didn't do it on purpose," explained teammate [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/buhl-klara/Ac58Q5Z8/"]Klara Buhl[/a] about the decisive moment on Disney+.[/p][p]"She wanted to pull the shirt and would have deserved a yellow card for that, no question. But the hair just got in the way."[/p][image alt="Player ratings: Bayern vs. Barcelona" id="31491975-1cf2-4a55-9d2d-4637b0154640" credit-line="Flashscore" guid="ed50810a-b554-47c5-93d8-184aba9b8e3f" original-width="1080" original-height="1920" /][p]Heading into their biggest match of the season so far, Bayern were determined to put the humiliation from October behind them.[/p][p]"You have to believe in it," said national team player Bühl, who returned to the starting lineup for the first time in over two months after recovering from a calf injury: "Everyone has to show that belief."[/p]
Barcelona strikes early
[p]Still, the Munich side's respect for their opponents was obvious. When Barcelona had the ball, Bayern defended deep in their own half and looked to hit on the counter.[/p][p]That worked from time to time, especially through Bühl. But while [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/harder-pernille/EeZjNTdN/"]Pernille Harder[/a] (7') missed the first good chance of the match, Bayern’s supporters must have feared the worst when Pajor scored with the visitor's first shot on target in the eighth minute.[/p][embed guid="593e95ed-746b-4c55-ab5b-14a69a191044" url="https://x.com/FCBfrauen/status/2048102400242692542" social-type="twitter" /][p]But that was about all Barca managed in the first half. Instead, Bayern grew in confidence with Uli Hoeneß and club boss Jan-Christian Dreesen in attendance, and started to take more risks. Just before halftime, Kett (42') had the best chance for Bayern, but was denied by goalkeeper [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/coll-catalina/p2MKhoTq/"]Cata Coll[/a].[/p][p]The visitors began the second half on the front foot and came very close to doubling the lead. [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/brugts-esmee/zXYLtT07/"]Esmee Brugts[/a] (49') hit the post, and defender [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/gilles-vanessa/ttbyiMcB/"]Vanessa Gilles[/a] (60') cleared off the line for Bayern.[/p][p]Kett preserved Bayern’s hopes of making the final for the first time when she equalised after a well-worked team move in the 69th minute, as Harder provided the assist. [/p][p]Bayern held on after Kett’s sending off to leave the tie finely poised before the second leg in the Catalonian capital on 3 May, where Barcelona will bid to reach the final for the sixth successive time. [/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/barcelona-YFBOvfnB/bayern-munich-vkjy3nF9/?mid=K2qSxxeo"]Catch up on the match with Flashscore.[/a][/p]
