'I jump out of my sleep': Michail Antonio still haunted by horror car crash

[p]In December 2024, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/antonio-michail/p8tt85Xn/"]Antonio[/a] was driving home from [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/west-ham/Cxq57r8g/"]West Ham[/a] training during Storm Darragh when his Ferrari crashed into a tree. [/p][p]The striker’s car was obliterated, but Antonio survived and only suffered a severely shattered femur, leaving him in hospital for three weeks. [/p][p]Antonio, who is back on the pitch, has since described himself as being close to death and said the experience changed his outlook on life. [/p][p]It was a miracle the 36-year-old survived, and speaking on the horrific incident, he revealed that he has nightmares that may be revealing what happened on the day, as his memories remain blurred.[/p][embed guid="8a839b14-6dc5-48e0-8211-2ca25ee2b26c" url="https://x.com/Michailantonio/status/1931747536722608370?s=20" social-type="twitter" /][p][b]"I’m driving on the road, and then a van swerves in front of me, and I swerve the van, then I jump out of my sleep," [/b]Antonio said to [b][i]The Telegraph[/i][/b].[/p][p][b]"And that’s the only part that’s come to me. But I don’t know if that’s true or not because it could just be a nightmare. So that’s why I’ve not really come out and told anybody else about it."[/b][/p][p]Antonio may remember more from the incident as time goes on, but for now the striker has signed for [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/watford/UmMRoGzp/"]Watford[/a] earlier this month.[/p][p]He is yet to star for the Championship side, but he could make an appearance once the three-week international break is over, after training with the side for a month.[/p][p]After leaving West Ham and subsequently playing for [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/al-sailiya/4xuOqBYn/"]Al Sailiya[/a] in Qatar, he could make his first appearance in Europe for the first time in two years in what would be a welcome return.[/p]
