A goal by South Korean international defender Han-Beom Lee ten minutes from the end was enough to give FC Midtjylland a 1-0 win in the Danish Cup final against FC Copenhagen on Thursday afternoon.

[p]In a cup final far from the top level, you would have expected from the two sides, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/midtjylland/8GZDmdbB/"]FC Midtjylland[/a] saved the season [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/fc-copenhagen-hSPZwbEh/midtjylland-8GZDmdbB/?mid=6yeRx33T"]with a title[/a], while [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/fc-copenhagen/hSPZwbEh/"]FC Copenhagen[/a] can look back on one of the worst seasons in the club's history.[/p][p]Midtjylland's defender [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/lee-han-beom/M37m7Jm6/"]Han-Beom Lee[/a] became Cup hero when he headed the winner past the reach of FC Copenhagen keeper [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/kotarski-dominik/lSEheXlN/"]Dominik Kotarski[/a] ten minutes from the end to give FC Midtjylland their first Danish Cup triumph since 2021. [/p][p]As cup winners, FCM will thus have the chance to play in next season's Europa League. As the winner of the relegation play-offs, Bo Svensson's outfit can at most secure access to the Conference League if the team wins the European play-off match of the Danish Superliga.[/p][p]A sold-out Parken Stadium with 35,485 spectators - roughly equally divided between the two teams - provided a great setting for the final, but the match could not live up to the setting.[/p][p]FC Copenhagen could barely put two passes together in the first half hour, but were defensively well organized, while FC Midtjylland enjoyed the majority of possession, but, without creating clear-cut chances.  [/p][image alt="FC Copenhagen - FC Midtjylland - Player Ratings" id="27b36bb2-56ed-4586-a94b-9b5060a173f1" credit-line="Flashare" guid="ac720f65-b8a9-4b36-a293-b21141a8f7c1" original-width="1200" original-height="1200" /][p]The few footballing touches with a bit of class came from FC Midtjylland's technically skilled [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/simsir-doguhan/lzFZRPo5/"]Aral Simsir[/a], who has just been named Profile of the Year by his colleagues in the Players' Association. It just didn't lead to any chances.[/p][p]Mohamed Elyounoussi had the biggest opportunity of the half after half an hour, but Elias Olafsson parried his attempt to safety. [/p][p]FC Copenhagen improved in the last 15 minutes before the break, but still excelled mostly in the free-kick statistics. [/p][p]In the second half, FC Midtjylland continued to control the ball most of the time, but it looked like the game was headed for extra time with both teams struggling to carve out the necessary chances. [/p][p]Ten minutes before the end, FC Midtjylland made the most of one of their many free-kicks when Han-Beom Lee rose high to head Aral Simsir's superb delivery into the back of the net. [/p][p]Very symptomatic of FC Copenhagen's season, the team did not even come close to an equalizer in the final minutes.[/p]
