For the fourth year running, Flashscore presents its ranking of the top 100 players ahead of the upcoming NBA season. In this opening instalment, established stars rub shoulders with others who have yet to fully step into the limelight.
100: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/kessler-walker/SO7PmgII/"]Walker Kessler[/a] ([a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/los-angeles-lakers/ngegZ8bg/"]Los Angeles Lakers[/a]) -4 places
[p]There is no doubt that Walker Kessler's move to LA is what allows him to retain his place. Having a certain Luka Doncic feeding him the ball will inevitably put him in the spotlight. However, he is coming off an almost entirely lost season due to injury; his departure from the Jazz did not go smoothly, and there are questions over whether the player once tipped as a DPOY candidate can rediscover a level that matches his new team's lofty ambitions.[/p][p]2025/26 stats: 14.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, 1.8 blocks (5 games)[/p][p]Reasonable 2026/27 targets: 16 points, 12 rebounds, 2.5 blocks[/p][image alt="Los Angeles Lakers player Walker Kessler during media day" id="6041c591-61cc-431d-9ff3-31b54e5fa94e" credit-line="Gary A. Immanuel Quickley's move to Toronto was supposed to relaunch his career, with a starting point guard role to boot, but he has not enjoyed the expected breakout. His numbers have declined every year, his impact has diminished, and the high-profile return of Kawhi Leonard should cost him a few touches. It is difficult to believe now that he will become more than a good role player. Which, to be fair, is not a bad thing.[/p][p]2025/26 stats: 16.4 points on 37.4% three-point shooting, 5.9 assists (70 games)[/p][p]Reasonable 2026/27 targets: 18 points, eight assists[/p]
98: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/edgecombe-jr-valdez/GSA6NTGG/"]VJ Edgecombe[/a] ([a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/philadelphia-76ers/vwRW2QSh/"]Philadelphia 76ers[/a]) NEW ENTRY
[p]The No. 3 pick in the 2025 draft was highly anticipated and did not disappoint. We have already seen glimpses of what could become an important NBA player in the years to come. But with Jaylen Brown and LeBron James joining the team, VJ Edgecombe's sophomore year is open to question. It is impossible to know what role he will have in the 76ers' four-star army.[/p][p]2025/26 stats: 16 points on 43.8% shooting, including 35.4% from three-point range, 1.4 steals (75 games)[/p][p]Reasonable 2026/27 targets: 19 points, 50% shooting, 40% from three-point range[/p]
97: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/holiday-jrue/xUfyVcae/"]Jrue Holiday[/a] ([a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/portland-trail-blazers/4Awl14c5/"]Portland Trail Blazers[/a]) -12 places
[p]With Ja Morant arriving and Damian Lillard returning, there were questions over what role would remain for veteran  Jrue Holiday. But there are whispers in Portland that the aforementioned pair would not convince defensively. That should benefit the former two-time All-Star, who remains highly effective in that area. In any case, he is better than his two rivals. Still valuable for balancing a team, he should have an important role.[/p][p]2025/26 stats: 16.3 points on 45.1% shooting, including 37.8% from three-point range, 6.1 assists (53 games)[/p][p]Reasonable 2026/27 targets: 18 points, eight assists[/p][image alt="Holiday's stats in the last two seasons" id="641a9144-4d46-4b96-859f-56f3ed828724" credit-line="Flashscore" guid="6e2ca676-b0f6-4098-85d4-0bf07afe6b02" original-width="2160" original-height="2700" /]
96: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/turner-myles/AuCbg8GU/"]Myles Turner[/a] ([a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/milwaukee-bucks/QTBEW6rC/"]Milwaukee Bucks[/a]) -44 places
[p]Myles Turner was last summer's major signing in Milwaukee, brought in to form an elite frontcourt with a certain Giannis Antetokounmpo. Since then, the Greek has headed south to Miami, and the franchise has hit the panic button. The centre, who had only ever known the Pacers, clearly struggled to find his place. What will happen without the franchise player? It is difficult to believe Turner can become genuinely impactful again, but at least he could rediscover his statistical form.[/p][p]2025/26 stats: 11.9 points on 44% shooting, including 38.3% from three-point range, 5.3 rebounds, 1.6 blocks (71 games)[/p][p]Reasonable 2026/27 targets: 15 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks[/p]
95: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/porter-michael-jr/jTSI4c83/"]Michael Porter Jr.[/a] ([a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/brooklyn-nets/bsAMUpDO/"]Brooklyn Nets[/a]) -12 places
[p]Eight years ago, Michael Porter Jr. was one of the NBA's biggest prospects and was tipped to be the first pick in the famous 2018 draft. Since then, there has been a title with Denver, but also injuries and chronic inconsistency. Now the No. 1 option on a directionless team, he should logically attract the interest of certain franchises looking to make a move for him at the deadline. But the feeling is that it will not happen, at least not this season.[/p][p]2025/26 stats: 24.2 points on 46.3% shooting, including 36.3% from three-point range, 7.1 rebounds (52 games)[/p][p]Reasonable 2026/27 targets: 25 points on 50% shooting[/p]
94: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/daniels-dyson/r5pENvXa/"]Dyson Daniels[/a] ([a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/atlanta-hawks/xAO4gBas/"]Atlanta Hawks[/a]) -41 places
[p]Last season, Dyson Daniels joined the long list of players who won the Most Improved Player award before coming back down to earth the following year. He remains an excellent defender, having just been named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team, but his overall impact declined for reasons that remain unclear. The departure of Trae Young? The emergence of Jalen Johnson? The return to form of CJ McCollum? Or was his 2024/25 season simply his ceiling? We should have a clearer picture this season.[/p][p]2025/26 stats: 11.9 points, two steals (76 games)[/p][p]Reasonable 2026/27 targets: 15 points, DPOY candidate[/p][image alt="Atlanta Hawks guard Dyson Daniels poses for a photo on media day" id="76adf423-97f3-4965-9f2f-5c4dec4ed971" credit-line="Brett Davis-Imagn Images" guid="828d7a3d-85ed-45f1-8882-d145f95f0577" original-width="5653" original-height="3769" /]
93: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/miller-brandon/YFBQpEeK/"]Brandon Miller[/a] ([a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/charlotte-hornets/xftMikUg/"]Charlotte Hornets[/a]) -3 places
[p]It is obviously far too early to write Brandon Miller off, and we are still talking about the No. 2 pick in the 2023 draft. And when you consider who went No. 1... Last year, his team were one of the season's pleasant surprises, yet he did not exactly seem to play a major role. With LaMelo Ball gone, it is time for him to take charge of the team for good. That was the destiny predicted for him in 2023, but it seems unrealistic.[/p][p]2025/26 stats: 20.2 points on 43.5% shooting, including 38.3% from three-point range (65 games)[/p][p]Reasonable 2026/27 targets: 25 points[/p]
92: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/alexander-walker-nickeil/UX4LnqkP/"]Nickeil Alexander-Walker[/a] (Atlanta Hawks) NEW ENTRY
[p]One of last season's pleasant surprises, Nickeil Alexander-Walker's move to Georgia kick-started his career and earned him the Most Improved Player award. But now comes the hard part: proving it was no fluke. We saw that with his teammate Dyson Daniels, and it did not happen. Nothing guarantees that NAW will manage it either, especially after such a successful season. It is also still unclear exactly what role he will have on these post-Trae Young Hawks.[/p][p]2025/26 stats: 20.8 points on 45.9% shooting, including 39.9% from three-point range (78 games)[/p][p]Reasonable 2026/27 targets: 22 points[/p]
91: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/reid-naz/zDWvtXt5/"]Naz Reid[/a] (Charlotte Hornets) +8 places
[p]Naz Reid is a former Sixth Man of the Year who provided Minnesota with more than sterling service. But the Wolves did not hesitate to sacrifice him to acquire LaMelo Ball. He is now leaving Minneapolis for the first time in his career, joining one of last season's most exciting teams. What role will he have? Will he compete with Moussa Diabate or play alongside him? And above all, with Charlotte having lost its primary creator, who will set him up?[/p][p]2025/26 stats: 13.6 points on 45.6% shooting, including 36.2% from three-point range, 6.2 rebounds (77 games)[/p][p]Reasonable 2026/27 targets: 16 points, 10 rebounds[/p]
[a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/basketball/usa/nba/"]Follow the upcoming NBA season with Flashscore.[/a]
