Norwegian international midfielder Andreas Schjelderup from Benfica is still uncertain whether he will be able to take part in the FIFA World Cup for Stale Solbakken's outfit after being given a two-week suspended prison sentence in November last year, after a Danish court found him guilty of sharing sexual material of two boys under the age of 18.

[p]Judge Mathias Eike gave [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/schjelderup-andreas/SEp0z7ho/"]Schjelderup[/a] a two-week suspended prison sentence, meaning he will only have to serve time in jail if found guilty of another crime during the next 12 months.[/p][p]However, the conviction, involving minors, could be classified as "moral turpitude" by U.S. authorities, making entry difficult without a waiver. [/p][p]Danish lawyer Martin Dahlgaard indicated that a suspended sentence makes it difficult to obtain a U.S. visa. If Schjelderup does not already possess a valid visa, he would have to apply through the American Embassy in Oslo, where the criminal conviction could hinder approval.[/p][embed guid="890e3b75-cc31-4fa4-91bd-69bba6773f16" url="https://x.com/tculer4/status/2033539911324663815" social-type="twitter" /][p]Andreas Schjelderup says that he is still uncertain whether he will be allowed to travel to the USA in June for the tournament. [/p][p]An application has been submitted. I don't know more than that. I hope it will be resolved, and those are also the indications I have received, but I don't know more than that. I can't do anything about it", says Schjelderup to TV2.no.[/p][p]Norway, in November last year, qualified for the 2026 World Cup after a 4-1 win away to Italy in their final qualifying match. Schjelderup was an unused substitute for the match in Milan.[/p]
