Roberto De Zerbi believes Tottenham have solved their "mental problem" after climbing out of the Premier League relegation zone with a crucial 2-1 win at Aston Villa on Sunday.

[p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/de-zerbi-roberto/pYizckpN/"]De Zerbi[/a]'s side stormed into a two-goal lead in the first half thanks to [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/gallagher-conor/dtbJO8B3/"]Conor Gallagher[/a]'s long-range drive and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/richarlison/K82Dz773/"]Richarlison[/a]'s header.[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/buendia-emiliano/dYDvGYIu/"]Emiliano Buendia[/a] got one back for [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/aston-villa/W00wmLO0/"]Villa[/a] in the final seconds, but it was too late to stop [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/tottenham/UDg08Ohm/"]Tottenham[/a] claiming a second successive victory.[/p][p]Fourth-bottom Tottenham are now one point above third-bottom [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/west-ham/Cxq57r8g/"]West Ham[/a], with both teams having three games left in the fight for survival.[/p][embed guid="5809544a-18bb-472c-b016-300af904fbc1" url="https://x.com/footballontnt/status/2051028925329920446?s=20" social-type="twitter" /][p]When De Zerbi arrived in March to replace sacked interim boss [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/tudor-igor/Qu12kvXf/"]Igor Tudor[/a], Tottenham had gone 15 league games without a win dating back to December.[/p][p]After losing at [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/sunderland/WSzc94ws/"]Sunderland[/a] and drawing with [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/brighton/2XrRecc3/"]Brighton[/a], De Zerbi has inspired vital away victories at [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/wolves/j3Azpf5d/"]Wolves[/a] and Villa to give Tottenham renewed hope of avoiding a first season in the second tier since 1977-78.[/p][p]The Italian claimed it was a question of rebuilding his players' shattered confidence after such a turbulent season.[/p][p]"I think it was a mental problem and these two wins, I hope we can play with more confidence and better mentality," he said.[/p][p]"Villa are a very good team.
