After a historic first half and a lead of up to 29 points, the Spurs ended up underwater, and the Knicks snatched victory in the final moments to take Game 4 of the Finals. New York are now just one win away from their third title!

[p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/new-york-knicks/WCNO4nbt/"]Knicks[/a] completed the greatest comeback in NBA Finals history after [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/anunoby-og-ogugua/jiNJMxEa/"]OG Anunoby[/a] tipped the ball back in off a [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/brunson-jalen/YLRvL3v7/"]Jalen Brunson[/a] missed three with under two seconds remaining. [/p][p]The Spurs would call a timeout afterwards, but failing on the inbound on the other end of the court, sending the Knicks to within one game of greatness as they took a 3-1 series lead.[/p][embed guid="220d44ef-f1fa-47f9-b3e2-8cea40c48752" url="https://x.com/NBA/status/2064914494598381940?s=20" social-type="twitter" /]
Spurs' dominant first half
[p]To start, New York was lost defensively. Three-pointers were raining down, the paint was wide open, and inevitably, the gap grew as the visitors kept hitting their shots. A nightmare first quarter, and that's putting it mildly, capped off by a flagrant foul for [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/robinson-mitchell/S0UU8oWb/"]Mitchell Robinson[/a], who was getting "eaten" both physically and mentally by [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/wembanyama-victor/jFmM1MFl/"]Victor Wembanyama.[/a][/p][embed guid="6973087f-7e93-4a40-8825-a529f726d767" url="https://x.com/NBA/status/2064880321506476077?s=20" social-type="twitter" /][p]And it wasn't over, with two quick three-pointers at the start of the second quarter from [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/fox-de-aaron/Ysw8Hl5J/"]De'Aron Fox[/a]. The Garden was in shock: everything was going right for the Spurs—shots, calls, the night was already dragging on.[/p][p]And the game was disrupted by referee reviews, which didn't help the Knicks' attempts to go on a run, as their play was clearly lacking in fluidity.[/p][p]It was becoming painful to watch for Knicks fans, especially as the lead approached 30 points (29). With a 76-49 lead at halftime, the Spurs set the NBA Finals record for not only the most points ever by a team in a single half, but also the most three-pointers in a single half (14).[/p][embed guid="78c869c2-55f0-4408-8844-7584fc766736" url="https://x.com/NBA/status/2064895131975569537?s=20" social-type="twitter" /]
The Knicks turned it all around
[p]All that was left was to hold off a Knicks comeback attempt, which was bound to happen. New York tried to turn up the intensity, but mainly managed to cut the deficit a bit because the Spurs' shooting cooled off after their first-half heights: in no time, Madison Square Garden was roaring again after a 13-0 Knicks run![/p][embed guid="69ed72d4-9ff0-4d02-9e15-d06e8916fc23" url="https://x.com/NBA/status/2064899976858059024?s=20" social-type="twitter" /][p]With the shots no longer falling, the Spurs went back to attacking the rim, especially through the always impactful [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/harper-dylan/E95BW6Df/"]Dylan Harper[/a], and managed to stop the bleeding. And they needed to, because [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/brunson-jalen/YLRvL3v7/"]Brunson[/a] was starting to catch fire. But that strategy didn't last, and forcing threes put [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/san-antonio-spurs/IwmkErSH/"]San Antonio[/a] in danger.[/p][p]Still, they were very much in control at the end of the third quarter, leading 90-75.[/p][p]At that point, everyone was waiting for the game to really ignite... and the Spurs went for the simplest solution to avoid that: feeding Wemby the ball in the paint. That strategy helped them keep their lead, but it was still fragile.[/p][p]And when New York started hitting threes, the gap dropped below ten points: the end of the game was set to be epic.[/p][embed guid="1c9280f9-114d-4b42-9b2f-d22ab2bbfec4" url="https://x.com/NBA/status/2064909168788586737?s=20" social-type="twitter" /][p]As always, at the center of it all was Brunson. The All-Star point guard kept driving to the basket, but it was especially [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/anunoby-og-ogugua/jiNJMxEa/"]Anunoby[/a] who delivered an incredibly precise and deadly performance from three (7-9). When Brunson brought the Knicks within one, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/hart-josh/Cjknv7yj/"]Josh Hart[/a] had an easy layup in transition to put the Knicks ahead and blow the roof off the Garden, but inexplicably missed it.[/p][embed guid="fd6f50b2-8ed9-40d0-b82a-a8d2b3298f50" url="https://x.com/NBA/status/2064914494598381940?s=20" social-type="twitter" /][p]Still, after two missed free throws from Wembanyama, Brunson finally put his team in front with just over a minute to play. The end of the game was wild. [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/castle-stephon/Kzd3IGeT/"]Stephon Castle[/a] hit two free throws, then Fox got a steal but couldn't finish in transition.[/p][p]Knicks' ball for the win, Brunson missed his three, but Anunoby, the hero of the night, came flying in for the game-winning tip-in to seal the [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/basketball/new-york-knicks-WCNO4nbt/san-antonio-spurs-IwmkErSH/summary/stats/?mid=Y957llqg"]107-106[/a] win, the biggest comeback in history.[/p][p]The Knicks are now within reach of the Larry O'Brien Trophy![/p]
