Wolverhampton Wanderers secured back-to-back Premier League (PL) wins for the first time since April 2025, as André’s first goal for the club secured a stunning 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Molineux.

[p]With relegation almost certain, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/wolves/j3Azpf5d/"]Wolves[/a]’ devil-may-care attitude had sparked a mini-revival of late after an impressive four-point haul in their previous two home games against [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/arsenal/hA1Zm19f/"]Arsenal[/a] and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/aston-villa/W00wmLO0/"]Aston Villa[/a].[/p][p]Eager to avoid becoming their next high-profile scalp, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/liverpool/lId4TMwf/"]Liverpool[/a] started positively, with [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/gakpo-cody/pWyuBud0/"]Cody Gakpo[/a] testing the water early on with a long-range effort that was easily collected by José [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/psg/CjhkPw0k/"]Sá[/a].[/p][p]Liverpool pressed forward again in search of an early opener, but [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/frimpong-jeremie/SjJ6pCvC/"]Jeremie Frimpong[/a] blazed his effort over the bar after a superb surging run and pass from [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/ekitike-hugo/ltVXPlJU/"]Hugo Ekitiké[/a]. [/p][p]The hosts were understandably happy to soak up the pressure, keeping the Reds at bay with relative ease in a first half that was forgotten almost as soon as it was brought to a close.[/p][image alt="FT stats" id="ffb4f159-b336-44cb-b673-d36e489c511d" credit-line="Opta by Stats Perform" guid="ba379804-132f-48f2-8572-187081ea2c73" original-width="1080" original-height="1080" /][p]Rob Edwards’ side failed to register a solitary attempt on goal by the time the half-time whistle blew, while a Liverpool team expected to dominate proceedings mustered just two first-half shots on target. [/p][p]Slot’s men had a penalty shout turned down just after the restart when Frimpong’s cross appeared to hit [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/krejci-ladislav/nZ8SVvvE/"]Ladislav Krejčí[/a]’s arm before going behind, and they went close to breaking the deadlock from the resulting corner.[/p][p]Ekitiké flicked on [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/salah-mohamed/08FBycgB/"]Salah[/a]'s corner towards [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/jones-curtis/OnQz9w8h/"]Curtis Jones[/a], but Gakpo appeared to inadvertently clear the ball away from his team-mate before seeing the ball subsequently rebound off the bar and away to safety.[/p][p]Ekitiké then made another driving run down the right and delivered an early cross that was superbly intercepted by Krejčí into Sá’s grasp, with [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/mac-allister-alexis/fDPhMB8M/"]Alexis Mac Allister[/a] waiting to pounce.[/p][image alt="Momentum" id="e1248d9e-a7b7-4e7f-a715-947af2ed7466" credit-line="Opta by Stats Perform" guid="c7bcb881-ebd9-4858-92e4-cd1a565ad2f4" original-width="1920" original-height="1080" /][p]But then came a stunning sucker punch, which sparked an eruption of noise. [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/arokodare-toluwalase/4IsrUYg1/"]Tolu Arokodare[/a] outmuscled [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/van-dijk-virgil/U59RNqOr/"]Virgil van Dijk[/a] when latching onto a long ball forward and slipped in [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/gomes-rodrigo/6JV5ZgJ6/"]Rodrigo Gomes[/a], who applied a superb dinked finish over [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/alisson/UZrQ3bwP/"]Alisson[/a] to give Wolves a stunning 78th-minute lead.[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/kyerematen-rio/ll5eHaog/"]Rio Ngumhoma[/a] was then within a whisker of restoring parity when Sá brilliantly parried his deflected strike onto the post.[/p][p]However, a Reds equaliser did come courtesy of Mohamed Salah, who intercepted [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/bellegarde-jean-ricner/YsThwpbL/"]Jean-Ricner Bellegarde[/a]’s cross-field pass and applied a toe-poked finish past Sá to score his first PL goal since November.[/p][image alt="Salah celebrates his goal" id="81549345-bdde-4dab-a9fe-05d97d8a3660" credit-line="Action Images via Reuters / Peter Cziborra" guid="7199e938-8926-4454-ac4f-0b7575f6fac6" original-width="2709" original-height="1871" /][p]Slot’s team were pushing for a winner in stoppage time, but incredibly, it was the hosts who struck deep into stoppage time, as [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/andre/0pppkHJn/"]André[/a]’s strike took a huge deflection off [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/gomez-joe/SKt9dxk8/"]Joe Gomez[/a] and sealed all three points in the most dramatic of circumstances.[/p][p]Wolves may still be 11 points adrift of 17th place, but performances and victories like this will only keep fans dreaming of the impossible.[/p][image alt="Wolves manager Rob Edwards celebrates their win" id="0e0c06a9-18e5-405f-bf4d-3727132bc155" credit-line="REUTERS / Chris Radburn" guid="7b9e859c-c0fc-4539-a1ce-2751e02f7b75" original-width="2719" original-height="1880" /][p]Liverpool, meanwhile, could rue this missed opportunity to consolidate their place in the PL's top five in what is becoming a captivating battle in the race for UEFA Champions League qualification.[/p][p]Flashscore Man of the Match: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/krejci-ladislav/nZ8SVvvE/"]Ladislav Krejčí[/a] ([a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/wolves/j3Azpf5d/"]Wolverhampton Wanderers[/a])[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/liverpool-lId4TMwf/wolves-j3Azpf5d/summary/stats/?mid=WAZj1LUs"]Catch up on the match stats with Flashscore[/a][/p]
