Cale Makar becomes highest-paid player in NHL history with $163.2 million contract

The Colorado Avalanche signed defenseman Cale Makar to an eight-year, $163.2 million contract extension on Friday, making him the highest-paid player in NHL history and the first ever to earn more than $20 million per year.
