Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin requests trade after 11 years with team

Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin officially requested a trade from the team on Thursday, according to league insider Elliotte Friedman.

[p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/larkin-dylan/b1K98MUq/"]Larkin[/a], 29, has spent all 11 years of his career with the [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/detroit-red-wings/dnJdmCF0/"]Red Wings[/a], who have now missed the playoffs for 10 straight seasons. [/p][p]The veteran center is currently under contract for five more seasons with an $8.7 million average annual value. [/p][embed guid="f6669424-69e9-4dbb-9cac-a7a1ec308b50" url="https://x.com/BR_OpenIce/status/2062615285115351475?s=20" social-type="twitter" /][p]Larkin was selected 15th overall in the 2014 NHL Draft and wasted no time shining as a rookie the following year. During the 2015-2016 season, Larkin scored 23 goals and 22 assists through 80 games. [/p][p]Since then, Larkin has played in at least 71 games in nine of 10 seasons (excluding COVID year) with the Wings and has now posted at least 30 goals and 33 assists in the last five seasons. [/p][p]He finished the 2025-2026 campaign with a career-high 34 goals, along with 33 assists (67 points) in 74 games.
