Bournemouth announce Marco Rose will take over from Iraola at end of season

Bournemouth have appointed former RB Leipzig boss Marco Rose as their head coach to replace the outgoing Andoni Iraola from next season.

[p]Rose has signed a three-year contract and will take over the [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/bournemouth/OtpNdwrc/"]Cherries[/a] in the summer after Iraola announced he would leave the club at the end of the current campaign.[/p][p]The German has been without a club since he was sacked by [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/rb-leipzig/KbS1suSm/"]Leipzig[/a] in March 2025.[/p][p][b]"The ​49-year-old arrives on the south coast with ‌a wealth of experience at the highest level of European football... the club’s immediate focus remains firmly ‌on finishing ​the current campaign ‌as strongly as possible," [/b]Bournemouth said in a ⁠statement.[/p][embed guid="62aea29d-4b9d-40a6-a9f1-9f4fbd9c5d8a" url="https://x.com/afcbournemouth/status/2046257583540097218" social-type="twitter" /][p]Rose's career in management started in 2012 and he has led a host of clubs also including [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/salzburg/Olvehxrl/"]Red Bull Salzburg[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/b-monchengladbach/88HSzjDr/"]Borussia Monchengladbach[/a] and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/dortmund/nP1i5US1/"]Borussia Dortmund[/a].[/p][p]In that time, he worked with some of football's current top players such as [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/haaland-erling/UmV9iQmE/"]Erling Haaland[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/bellingham-jude/QNvlPm7s/"]Jude Bellingham[/a] and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/szoboszlai-dominik/dERKtqoo/"]Dominik Szoboszlai[/a].[/p][p]With Salzburg, Rose won two Bundesliga titles and the Austrian Cup, and the DFB-Pokal and DFL-Supercup with Leipzig.[/p][p][b]Bournemouth's appointment of Rose comes following Iraola's decision to leave the south coast when his contract expires at the end of term.[/b][/p][p]Spaniard Iraola was hired in June 2023 and has elevated the club to new heights in the Premier League.[/p][p]Last season, Bournemouth finished ninth with a club record 56 points and reached the FA Cup quarter-finals.[/p][p]Iraola has the side in a strong position again this season, with Bournemouth in eighth place during a 13-game unbeaten run and having a shot at European qualification.[/p]
