They took the second corner of the match but it went beyond the pack of players in the box. Uchida has been the biggest handful so far for the Victory defence. [/p][p]14': It was South Melbourne with the first dangerous opportunity of the match as a lively Yuki Uchida almost found Bul Juach with a low, centering bullet pass from inside the box! 0-0 after it missed the target.[/p][p]6': Souths left back Jordan Lampard whips in the first corner of the match and it wasn't the easiest for the Victory defence to clear. [/p][p]4': South Melbourne defender Jacob Eliopoulos is the first man of the match booked for a very late challenge near midfield. Far from ideal for a centre back to need to be cautious for what could be another 116 minutes plus change.[/p][p]7:45pm AEDT: The teams head out onto the pitch, led by captains Marko Jankovic and Jason Davidson, to line up for the national anthem and the presentation of the trophy. [/p][embed guid="19d1b98e-ad7a-4437-a0f5-9d95f08784f3" url="https://x.com/aleaguemen/status/2108846651733655858" social-type="twitter" /][p]7:30pm AEDT: Football Australia listed a 7:35pm kick-off for this match, but the football doesn't actually begin until closer to 7:50pm, with some pre-game entertainment still to come.[/p][image alt="Win Probability" id="025a31df-52ee-4e3f-9731-d92c2c532626" credit-line="Flashscore" guid="63682d02-66fd-42ed-ab94-15e3811dec9d" original-width="1920" original-height="1080" /][p]7:15pm AEDT: The atmosphere at AAMI Park is nothing short of electric as the players head out for their warm-ups, with both ends in full voice. [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/south-melbourne/6ciKPSEO/"]South Melbourne[/a]'s end in particular - at the Yarra River end of the ground - is particularly noisy. [/p][p]I stepped out to the concourse for a quick breath of fresh air and, despite there barely being an empty green seat in the stadium, was greeted by huge lines still streaming through the gates.[/p][p]6:55pm AEDT: You can catch up on each team's path to the final with our popular [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/news/soccer-australia-cup-who-are-the-32-clubs-competing-in-the-2026-australia-cup/ljQrOGUb/"]Australia Cup guide[/a]. [/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/melbourne-victory/Qql6CzOP/"]Melbourne Victory[/a] had to make three trips to Sydney and one to Hobart, whilst Souths did things the hard way, falling 1-0 behind in three of their matches and squandering a 2-0 lead to [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/fremantle-city/0hbzunqO/"]Fremantle City[/a] in the other. They could surely be described as "character-building wins".[/p][image alt="South Melbourne Form" id="58e5fac0-2f03-4662-a9b4-0899e5274f3a" credit-line="Flashscore" guid="2764ae7e-c7ad-430e-a21b-6e7cd1c5e010" original-width="2160" original-height="2700" /][image alt="Melb Victory Form" id="93ef9493-c1fe-4daa-bde0-360a4507c5df" credit-line="Flashscore" guid="d60cb001-f567-44ba-875a-a7fafc8e1662" original-width="2160" original-height="2700" /][p]6:45pm AEDT: Here are the starting lineups for both teams.
