It is the quarter-finals and thus the business end of the UEFA Champions League. Over Tuesday and Wednesday, the first legs will be played out, and we will be halfway to discovering who the 2025/26 semi-finalists will be. Follow all the drama live with us as the best eight teams in Europe go to battle.
Wednesday's highlights
[p]• As many expected, reigning champions PSG produced a dominant display at home to Liverpool, but they weren't at their very best in the final third, only winning 2-0. As a result, the Reds head back to Anfield still alive in the tie.[/p][p]• It was a nightmare of a night at Camp Nou for Barcelona, who went down to 10 men against Atletico Madrid when Pau Cubarsi was sent off and then went 2-0 down in the tie courtesy of a stunning free-kick from Julian Alvarez and a cool finish from Alexander Sorloth, leaving Hansi Flick's side with a huge mountain to climb next week.[/p]
Wednesday's results
[p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/atl-madrid-jaarqpLQ/barcelona-SKbpVP5K/?mid=8pBGO97F"]Barcelona 0-2 Atletico Madrid[/a][/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/liverpool-lId4TMwf/psg-CjhkPw0k/?mid=jqNLK06s"]PSG 2-0 Liverpool[/a][/p]
Key updates to keep you informed:

Wednesday, April 8th
[p]23:13 CET - And with that, we're at the halfway point of this year's quarter-finals, with things finely poised in each of the ties after four fascinating first legs.[/p][p]Real Madrid and Sporting CP head into their respective deciders with Bayern Munich and Arsenal just a goal down, while Liverpool will have the famous home advantage that has roared them on to perform miracles in the past and Barcelona undoubtedly have the quality to turn things around.[/p][p]Our Champions League tracker will be back next Tuesday to cover all four second legs. They have been in control of the ball since their opener, with [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/kvaratskhelia-khvicha/bNuGt0hE/"]Kvicha Kvaratskhelia[/a] forcing a good save out of Georgian compatriot [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/mamardashvili-giorgi/lxnsUkIc/"]Giorgi Mamardashvili[/a].[/p][p]Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid have been forced into an early change, with the injured [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/hancko-david/zRTnwHe5/"]David Hancko[/a] being replaced by [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/pubill-pages-marc/8EZ7QILP/"]Marc Pubil[/a].[/p][image alt="David Hancko leaves the pitch" id="5ae7ce79-1aaf-4710-b69d-389ee57d6b6f" credit-line="Albert Gea / Reuters" guid="446b859a-7de9-437b-b1b9-523f7ff4f62d" original-width="4926" original-height="3286" /][p]21:23 CET - Goalless at Camp Nou so far, but it's [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/rashford-marcus/COnT2Lh0/"]Marcus Rashford[/a] who has been at the heart of the action so far, taking three shots - more than any other player - with two finding the target.[/p][p]21:14 CET - PSG are ahead against Liverpool! It's a stunner to break the deadlock from [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/doue-desire/KIUWH2Jq/"]Desire Doue[/a], or so it seems. And can Mbappe end a two-month goal drought at club level and banish any doubts as to whether he can lead the line effectively alongside [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/vinicius-junior/CbwQ4Mws/"]Vinicius Junior[/a]?[/p][embed guid="a2b81de2-6522-4f89-84ea-5e97a35481ea" url="https://x.com/Flashscorecom/status/2041456728013787150" social-type="twitter" /][p]Over in Portugal, Gyokeres will be looking to bite the hand that fed him at his former stomping ground, while [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/suarez-luis/fV4fAvB8/"]Luis Suarez[/a] - his replacement at Sporting - will be the danger man for the hosts, having scored 33 goals already for his club this season.[/p][p]20:00 CET - Arsenal are fielding a much stronger side than the one that was knocked out of the FA Cup at the weekend, with [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/saliba-william/EgIM3sB7/"]William Saliba[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/rice-declan/zkQ8Cm6n/"]Declan Rice[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/zubimendi-martin/fNI6Gsdr/"]Martin Zubimendi[/a] and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/gyokeres-viktor/zaBZ1xIk/"]Viktor Gyokeres[/a] all coming into the starting XI.[/p][p]Sporting's suspended captain [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/hjulmand-morten/pjC6hC8U/"]Morten Hjulmand[/a] is replaced by 19-year-old [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/simoes-joao/4UYkqiMB/"]Joao Simoes[/a] in midfield.[/p][image alt="Sporting vs Arsenal starting XIs" id="05ce5b28-12e8-4fd5-90fa-5983c75a1287" credit-line="Flashscore" guid="3c329876-c291-4f0f-bfab-ff7f36be3547" original-width="1200" original-height="1200" /][p]19:50 CET - Kick-off for tonight's games is getting ever closer, and the lineups are now in, with the big news being that [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/kane-harry/v5HSlEAa/"]Harry Kane[/a] is starting for Bayern having previously been an injury doubt.[/p][p]18-year-old [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/pitarch-pinar-thiago/GQciGBE5/"]Thiago Pitarch[/a] starts ahead of [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/bellingham-jude/QNvlPm7s/"]Jude Bellingham[/a] for the hosts, playing his 10th match of senior football.[/p][image alt="Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich starting XIs" id="673b5391-8b00-43e8-9315-bd9866aac5db" credit-line="Flashscore" guid="8a2f1d21-3648-463d-a008-1d6db6432bc3" original-width="1200" original-height="1200" /][p]18:00 CET - Good evening and welcome to a fascinating night of Champions League quarter-final action! Whilst [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/real-madrid/W8mj7MDD/"]Real Madrid's[/a] clash against old foes [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/bayern-munich/nVp0wiqd/"]Bayern Munich[/a] is the headline match, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/sporting-cp/tljXuHBC/"]Sporting CP[/a] vs [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/arsenal/hA1Zm19f/"]Arsenal[/a] has plenty of intrigue too. [/p][p]Expect fireworks in Madrid, given the history between the two clubs in this competition. Their most recent meeting came in the 2023/24 campaign at the semi-final stage, with Real coming out on top over two legs.[/p][p]They met in Madrid in the first leg that season too and ultimately it was Real's 2-1 victory at the Bernabeu that decided the tie. Therefore, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/kompany-vincent/K6A2elS9/"]Vincent Kompany[/a] will be desperate to avoid defeat tonight and given his side's impressive form and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/arbeloa-alvaro/CO9bjrLo/"]Alvaro Arbeloa[/a]'s domestic troubles, he will fancy his chances. [/p][embed guid="c354dd1c-12ff-48ca-91d4-bd10f1b2b4e8" url="https://x.com/ChampionsLeague/status/2041434945785139694" social-type="twitter" /][p]Over to Lisbon, and although Arsenal are the favourites, Sporting will look to Arsenal's poor form as a reason for optimism, as well as the fact that they have won their last three matches in all competitions. Mikel Arteta's side will be desperate to respond though, after a difficult few weeks for the club, and a quarter-final first leg win would be the perfect way to do that. [/p][embed guid="2e745b90-cbf1-41c8-b3d5-9b0d008e2f6a" url="https://x.com/Arsenal/status/2041456115150647366" social-type="twitter" /]
