Hamilton confident he can have dream British GP weekend after claiming pole for sprint race

Lewis Hamilton hailed the work Ferrari are doing after claiming pole position for the sprint race in front of a home crowd at Silverstone, and expressed confidence that he can stay at the front for the rest of the weekend.

[p]Hamilton will start at the very front of the field in Saturday's sprint race at Silverstone after out-qualifying championship leader Kimi Antonelli by 0.010s on home turf.[/p][p]It was the latest of many impressive displays from the Ferrari man this season, further establishing his return to form after a disappointing few years, and he said afterwards that he was "so, so happy," not least because the need to manage battery power didn't cause the issues he'd feared.[/p][embed guid="05d67ae7-7558-45d7-ad4b-6cf57c3d5075" url="https://x.com/F1/status/2073091529866904061" social-type="twitter" /][p]He then went on to hail the work Ferrari have been doing to close the gap to Mercedes since the start of the season.[/p][p][b]"I want to bring it back to everyone back at the factory, because - I can't say it enough - they're pushing,"[/b] he said[/p][p][b]"Last year, we were stuck in a rut, not a lot we could do, and now they're finding things and adding things to car, and every single weekend they're bringing small little bits and adding performance to this car.[/b][/p][p]"It felt awesome. Silverstone track is the best track to drive."[/p][embed guid="cc9e1817-fe45-4ab9-86ff-5ec706f9d920" url="https://x.com/F1/status/2073085943095959879" social-type="twitter" /][p]The goal now will be for the 41-year-old to convert pole into a sprint race victory and remain at the front for qualifying for the main race and that race itself.[/p][p]His reward would be a 10th victory at his home race, and he's feeling good.[/p][p][b]"The car felt great on the long run, to be honest,"[/b] he said.[/p][p][b]"It's going to be tough with these guys, they're very very close, but I don't think it's impossible, and we're in a great position...[/b][/p][p][b]"It won't be easy to keep a Mercedes or Red Bull engine behind, but I'm going to give absolutely everything for these fans."[/b][/p]
