Juventus passed up the chance to go fourth in Serie A, with Manuel Locatelli missing a pivotal late penalty in a 1-1 draw with Sassuolo, who have still recorded just two away wins since late November (D3, L4).

[p]Coming into this with five wins from seven games at the Allianz Stadium in all competitions (D1, L1), [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/juventus/C06aJvIB/"]Juve[/a]’s strong home form needed to continue here if they were to keep the pace in the race for fourth.[/p][p]A strong start saw the hosts break the deadlock inside the opening quarter-hour, with [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/perin-mattia/A3ZJNQg1/"]Mattia Perin[/a]’s long kick finding [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/chico-conceicao/n53v4sSd/"]Francisco Conceicao[/a], who led the counter charge down the right, eventually cutting in and laying off for [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/yildiz-kenan/0EgOZVie/"]Kenan Yildiz[/a] to guide a first-time finish into the bottom corner.[/p][image alt="Yildiz (L) opened the scoring for Juve" id="3b8d37bb-8c02-4f12-912d-6995a4479390" credit-line="ČTK / imago sportfotodienst / Claudio Benedetto/IPA Sport / ipa-agency.net" guid="5475fef6-f550-4a6d-a2b9-2adabfdbc767" original-width="1400" original-height="933" /][p]Soon after, Yildız forced [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/muric-arijanet/CfsIdb20/"]Arijanet Muric[/a] into a stop, as the goalkeeper pushed over a looping effort, shortly before [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/pinamonti-andrea/O4qi5hfc/"]Andrea Pinamonti[/a] missed the chance to level at the other end, heading a corner over the bar at the back post.[/p][p]Juventus were producing some neat passages of play, and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/kalulu-kyatengwa-piere/E5UKRKOH/"]Pierre Kalulu[/a] had a presentable opportunity to double his side’s advantage before the break, but the defender was unable to direct his bending shot on target after more good work from Conceicao.[/p][p]The Neroverdi needed a response after an underwhelming first-half showing, and they got just that seven minutes after the restart.[/p][p]They’d created little to this point, but sharp movement from Pinamonti saw him get in front of [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/bremer/INWVBb0R/"]Gleison Bremer[/a] to poke home [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/berardi-domenico/jHAnwQQB/"]Domenico Berardi[/a]’s low ball into the box, levelling the game.[/p][embed guid="58918cd7-e158-45d1-9674-748727c6f14b" url="https://x.com/SerieA_EN/status/2035464771303031157" social-type="twitter" /][p]Unsurprisingly, the Bianconeri pushed hard to restore their lead, testing Muric’s reactions with a back-post header from [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/boga-jeremie/pEEqeFXD/"]Jeremie Boga[/a] after Conceicao had supplied yet another sumptuous delivery.[/p][p]And four minutes from time, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/idzes-jay/6PYQeLsa/"]Jay Idzes[/a] was penalised for handling in the area, giving Locatelli the chance to win the game. However, Muric guessed the right way, holding a rather tame effort to ultimately deny Juventus what would have been a third straight league win.[/p][p]A point isn’t enough to see Luciano Spalletti’s men climb above [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/como/ttyLthOA/"]Como[/a], who remain ahead on H2Hs, having yet to play this weekend.[/p][image alt="Match stats" id="822ca710-8817-4931-b814-e8792b911e9e" credit-line="Opta by StatsPerform" guid="36b16a73-089f-448e-b7b0-2c4e5d346783" original-width="1080" original-height="1080" /][p]Meanwhile, despite a creditable point, one triumph in nine away games against sides starting the matchday above them goes some way to explaining why the Neroverdi find themselves 11th, with a European push likely beyond them at this stage of the campaign.[/p][p]Flashscore Man of the Match: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/muric-arijanet/CfsIdb20/"]Arijanet Muric[/a] ([a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/sassuolo/QDdvI0zl/"]Sassuolo[/a])[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/juventus-C06aJvIB/sassuolo-QDdvI0zl/summary/stats/?mid=WKd68gmJ"]Check out all the match stats with Flashscore[/a][/p]
