Lens capped off their brilliant Ligue 1 campaign with a comprehensive 4-0 win over Lyon at the Groupama Stadium, ending a run of five away league games without victory (D3, L2).

[p]Following their defeat midweek, which subsequently ended the Ligue 1 title race, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/lens/IBmris38/"]Lens[/a] were playing for pride here with second place already tied up.[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/lyon/2akflumR/"]Lyon[/a], meanwhile, knew only a victory would give them a chance to pip [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/lille/pfDZL71o/"]Lille[/a] to third. [/p][p]Yet it was Lens who got off to a dominant start, scoring twice in the opening 32 minutes. [/p][p]First, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/antonio-kyllian/ALSvzjJj/"]Kyllian Antonio[/a] played a sublime defence-splitting pass to release [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/said-wesley/400jX4xg/"]Wesley Saïd[/a] down the inside-left channel, and the forward curled an inch-perfect strike into the far-right corner. [/p][p]Lyon were struggling to gain a foothold in the contest, and Les Gones were 2-0 down just beyond the half-hour.[/p][p]Released down the left in the box once again - this time by Amadou Haidara - Saïd produced another clinical strike past [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/greif-dominik/ID9k7lap/"]Dominik Greif[/a], firing into the roof of the net. [/p][p]Lens capped off a fine half with a third strike in stoppage time, with a counter-attack ending in [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/thauvin-florian/SMbMSc26/"]Florian Thauvin[/a] carrying the ball up the pitch before slipping in [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/sotoca-florian/AgROGWlt/"]Florian Sotoca[/a], who beat Greif with a low drive at his near post. [/p][image alt="Momentum" id="6e1cc040-6fdb-4d36-8419-c34007d5f420" credit-line="Opta by StatsPerform" guid="49adc327-188b-4f19-a808-84a06f6aa4cd" original-width="1920" original-height="1080" /][p]Paula Fonseca made a double change ahead of the restart in an attempt to try and turn things around in their final game of the season.[/p][p]The home side certainly had more possession in the second half and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/moreira-afonso/OQmjjuCG/"]Afonso Moreira[/a] had an opportunity after cutting in from the left, but his shot was comfortably gathered by [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/gorgelin-mathieu/jevYFpy7/"]Mathieu Gorgelin[/a]. [/p][p]Any hope of a comeback was very quickly eradicated, though, as Lens added a fourth goal on 54’ after slicing through the Lyon defence with ease. [/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/bulatovic-andrija/IH6iSINB/"]Andrija Bulatović[/a] sent Thauvin through on goal and the Frenchman produced the pick of his side’s goals with an exquisite chip over a despairing Greif. [/p][p]Lyon’s high line continued to be routinely breached, yet they at least remained a threat at the other end as [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/yaremchuk-roman/vuhK9J78/"]Roman Yaremchuk[/a] struck the crossbar after combining well with [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/sulc-pavel/dYaeeH8k/"]Pavel Sulc[/a] in the box.[/p][p]The hosts continued to press for a goal as [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/tolisso-corentin/hQOIoFOs/"]Corentin Tolisso[/a] sent an effort narrowly wide of the left post, before Gorgelin was called into action to deny Sulc’s first-time effort. [/p][p]In the end, Lyon were unable to restore any pride, ending a roller-coaster season - which included a 13-game winning run - with a 4-0 humiliation at home. [/p][p]Lens were purring all night and look perfectly poised to win their first-ever Coupe de France against a [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/nice/YagoQJpq/"]Nice[/a] side who will also be battling in the Ligue 1 relegation play-offs. [/p][p]Flashscore Man of the Match: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/bulatovic-andrija/IH6iSINB/"]Andrija Bulatovic[/a] ([a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/lens/IBmris38/"]Lens[/a])[/p][image alt="Key match stats" id="b726f38a-9561-4d87-a894-238fae30109d" credit-line="Opta by StatsPerform" guid="5ebdc520-c35a-4371-9833-cabebd19719d" original-width="1080" original-height="1080" /][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/lens-IBmris38/lyon-2akflumR/?mid=OhrGQlpm"]Catch up on the match here.[/a][/p]
