Power Dynamos confirm departure of Kenya striker Moses Shumah to AmaZulu FC

Kenya national team striker Moses Shumah has left Zambia Premier League champions Power Dynamos to sign for South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) outfit AmaZulu FC.

[p]In a surprise move, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/shumah-moses/fHUOvJb0/"]Shumah[/a], who joined [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/power-dynamos/KlN00gNJ/"]Dynamos[/a] from Kenyan Premier League side [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/kakamega-homeboyz/OfdPtDuK/"]Kakamega Homeboyz[/a] last season, has left the club alongside midfielder [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/masanyinga-brian/hImPdPd4/"]Brian Masanyinga[/a].[/p][p][b]A statement from the club confirmed: “Shumah has completed a transfer to South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) side [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/amazulu/4jYGJsW7/"]AmaZulu FC[/a] after the Club reached an agreement with the Durban-based outfit.[/b][/p][p]“Although he had a year remaining on his contract, the striker has opted to join the South African outfit.”[/p][h2]Shumah scored 23 goals in all competitions[/h2][p]Shumah joined Dynamos from Homeboyz in July last year and enjoyed a breakthrough season at Arthur Davies Stadium, winning the MTN Super League Golden Boot after scoring 21 goals.[/p][p][b]The towering striker has left Dynamos having scored 23 goals in all competitions during his time with Power Dynamos. Meanwhile, Masanyinga leaves Dynamos after securing an opportunity to join the Zambia Police Service.[/b][/p][p]Commenting on the departures, Power Dynamos Chief Executive Officer Gibson Chaloba thanked the players for their contribution to the Club.[/p][p][b]“Both Moses and Brian have represented Power Dynamos with pride and commitment, and we thank them for everything they have done for the Club,”[/b] Chaloba told the club website.[/p][p]“Moses had an excellent season for us and his goals were a major reason for our success. He worked hard, remained focused and has earned this opportunity to take the next step in his career.[/p][embed guid="bb8d04ee-3dbc-4490-ba8d-7928fcd969b6" url="https://x.com/DennisMabu4694/status/2070202946243956794" social-type="twitter" /][p][b]“We are happy for him and wish him all the best in South Africa.”[/b][/p][p]The statement added: [b]"Brian always gave his best whenever called upon and conducted himself professionally throughout his time at the Club.[/b][/p][p]“While we are sad to see him leave, we are pleased that he has secured an opportunity with the Zambia Police Service and we wish him success in his new role.[/p][p][b]“They both leave with our thanks and appreciation, and they will always be welcome at Power Dynamos.”[/b][/p][h2]Shumah debuted for Kenya in 2023[/h2][p]Shumah joined Homeboyz in November 2022 and went on to grow in stature under a number of coaches to finally become the Golden Boot winner at the end of the 2024-25 Kenyan Premier League season with 17 goals.[/p][p][b]He made a swift move thereafter to Zambian side Dynamos at a time Kenya’s national team coach Benni McCarthy had named him to the Kenya team to lead his attack during the upcoming 2024 African Nations Championship in 2025.[/b][/p][p]However, the move away from the Kenyan league, rendered him ineligible for the tournament.
