US forward Patrick Agyemang ruled out of World Cup after suffering Achilles injury

U.S. striker Patrick Agyemang has suffered ⁠an Achilles tendon injury that will keep him out ‌of the World Cup, his English club ‌Derby County said on ‌Tuesday.

[p]The 25-year-old was injured in the ‌first half of Derby's [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/derby-Iug0YO0Q/stoke-hSUajdSS/?mid=hYTXSDUI"]2-0 ‌win[/a] over [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/stoke-city/hSUajdSS/"]Stoke City[/a] in the Championship (second tier) on Monday and ‌was taken off on ⁠a stretcher.[/p][p][b]"The ‌club will provide [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/agyemang-patrick/69kPHWm8/"]Patrick[/a] with the ​highest level of medical care and rehabilitation throughout his ​recovery,"[/b] the club said in a statement.[/p][p][b]"As a result of ⁠this injury, ​Patrick will unfortunately miss this summer's FIFA World Cup.
