Paris Saint-Germain crushed Chelsea’s hopes of a UEFA Champions League (UCL) last-16 fightback with a 3-0 second-leg victory at Stamford Bridge (8-2 on aggregate), as the holders inflicted the Blues’ joint-heaviest defeat in a two-legged European tie.

[p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/chelsea/4fGZN2oK/"]Chelsea[/a] were looking to become only the sixth team in UCL history to overturn a first-leg deficit of three or more goals in a knockout tie, and the home fans appeared to believe their side could make history as they created a fantastic atmosphere before kick-off.[/p][p]The bubble burst inside six minutes, though, when [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/sarr-mamadou/h2cuSnsi/"]Mamadou Sarr[/a] miscontrolled a long ball, allowing [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/kvaratskhelia-khvicha/bNuGt0hE/"]Khvicha Kvaratskhelia[/a] - who scored twice off the bench in last Wednesday’s first leg - to race in behind to finish past [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/sanchez-robert/Q74F6aqr/"]Robert Sanchez[/a].[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/psg/CjhkPw0k/"]PSG[/a] punished a second Chelsea error eight minutes later to put the tie out of sight, as another first-leg goalscorer, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/barcola-bradley/lhGD3RgS/"]Bradley Barcola[/a], found the top corner from the edge of the box following a swift counter-attack after the hosts lost possession in midfield.[/p][embed guid="f67ee833-07d7-4203-8d91-9d83114efbcd" url="https://x.com/Flashscorecom/status/2034027170436169790" social-type="twitter" /][p]Les Parisiens were in complete control, and Kvaratskhelia put the ball in the net again just after the half-hour mark, but [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/zaire-emery-warren/neJeseDL/"]Warren Zaire-Emery[/a] had provided the assist from an offside position and the goal was ruled out.[/p][p]Chelsea rallied late in the half, only for [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/safonov-matvey/zJF3W9Rq/"]Matvei Safonov[/a] to deny João Pedro, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/palmer-cole/h8agbDt7/"]Cole Palmer[/a], and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/hato-jorrel/nFLCJBzK/"]Jorrel Hato[/a] in quick succession, shortly before Sanchez made a good block to deny Barcola from a tight angle.[/p][image alt="Momentum" id="8fc2b68c-acb5-4942-8701-beea4cda4ad1" credit-line="Opta by StatsPerform" guid="703d4c29-9c51-4e9e-91e4-fe9b43832e65" original-width="1920" original-height="1080" /][p]The Blues returned after half-time, knowing they had one more half of UCL football left this season, and Pedro curled inches wide as they looked to go out on a high.[/p][p]Manager Liam Rosenior brought off Pedro, Palmer, and captain [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/fernandez-enzo/nZnbEVWP/"]Enzo Fernandez[/a] just before the hour mark, and one of the replacements, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/delap-liam/6cfkytBh/"]Liam Delap[/a], immediately forced a save from Safonov at close range.[/p][p]However, PSG showed their ruthlessness again seconds later, as another counter-attack ended with [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/mayulu-senny/za4zLeYc/"]Senny Mayulu[/a] curling his fifth goal of the season into the top corner.[/p][embed guid="6b0175fa-0a87-4f62-95f6-108862109562" url="https://x.com/PSG_English/status/2034024086091809075" social-type="twitter" /][p]Chelsea’s night went from bad to worse as [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/chalobah-trevoh/2N61AJte/"]Trevoh Chalobah[/a] was taken off on a stretcher after suffering a nasty injury late on, with the Blues now on a run of one win from seven matches inside 90 minutes (D2, L4).[/p][p]PSG, meanwhile, stretch their unbeaten run against English opposition to a club-record six games (W5, D1), and march on to the quarter-finals as they aim to become the first team since [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/real-madrid/W8mj7MDD/"]Real Madrid[/a] in 2017/18 to successfully defend their UCL title.[/p][p]Flashscore Man of the Match: [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/kvaratskhelia-khvicha/bNuGt0hE/"]Khvicha Kvaratskhelia[/a] (PSG)[/p][image alt="Key stats" id="b4557578-856c-4776-afe5-85af822e04ab" credit-line="Opta by StatsPerform" guid="ce8a4554-1bc9-493d-89ec-715fbe4f5860" original-width="1080" original-height="1080" /][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/chelsea-4fGZN2oK/psg-CjhkPw0k/?mid=na24mP0f"]Catch up on the match stats here[/a].[/p]
