Former Manchester United star Mikael Silvestre spoke exclusively to Tribal Football about the chances of the Red Devils competing for silverware next season.

[p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/carrick-michael/phM8NElP/"]Carrick[/a], who succeeded Ruben Amorim in January, has been a revelation at [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/manchester-united/ppjDR086/"]United[/a] as he revived the side and pushed them back into the Champions League with three matches to spare. [/p][p]Winning 10 and drawing three of his 15 matches in charge, Carrick is said to have the backing of the top players at the club, including captain [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/fernandes-bruno/GYvAMDm2/"]Bruno Fernandes[/a], who is keen to see him stay ahead of the new campaign.[/p]
Can United compete on all fronts?
[p]Carrick has made no secret of the fact that he wants the job full-time, but with a busy summer ahead, there are doubts as to whether he can handle four competitions after focusing purely on the league since he took over. [/p][p]Speaking to Tribal Football via [a href="https://www.betpack.com/"]Betpack[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/silvestre-mikael/46lMEUQH/"]Silvestre[/a] has suggested that United do not have the firepower to not only compete in all competitions but also challenge for the Premier League title. [/p][p]"They've had a good run since Michael took over. However, this year they only had the league to play for. [/p][p]"The team is not equipped to compete for four trophies, or even if you exclude the League Cup, to compete for the FA Cup, Champions League, and the Championship. It's not realistic right now; the team is not ready for it.[/p][p]"You need more players, and you also need players to leave to make room, as there are too many in some positions.[/p][p]"So, it's a big, important transfer window. But the team won't be ready to compete for the title next season; it's too early.[/p][embed guid="d9171ba4-4307-41f2-8ad4-48b082a6c705" url="https://x.com/SkySportsPL/status/2054503809917788509?s=20" social-type="twitter" /][p]"Nobody was expecting the team to perform so well under his management. I wouldn't say he overperformed, but the results, not really the way the team played, have exceeded expectations. So, it's been a very pleasant surprise."[/p][p]Reports state United chiefs are expected to recommend that Carrick be appointed as permanent manager following his impressive spell, despite links to Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola and Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner in recent months. [/p]
