AGF on Sunday evening recorded a 2-0 win at Brondby Stadium, which was enough to win their first Danish Championship title in 40 years, as FC Midtjylland earlier on Sunday could only draw against FC Nordsjaelland.

[p]For the first time in 40 years, AGF can call themselves Danish football champions.[/p][p]After a season in which [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/aarhus/OOXnKGbO/"]Aarhus[/a] has been top of the table throughout the season, the icing was put on the cake at [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/brondby/67R5vKqt/"]Brondby[/a] Stadium on Sunday evening.[/p][p]AGF won 2-0 after two goals in the first half hour, and having accumulated 64 points, AGF can no longer be caught in the race for the Danish title.[/p][p]With 60 points, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/midtjylland/8GZDmdbB/"]FC Midtjylland[/a] have to settle for silver for the second successive season, but they get a chance to restore morale on Thursday in the Cup final. [/p][image alt="Brondby - AGF - Player Ratings" id="ee7c62d3-aff1-49fb-8a20-1c517a41c6b3" credit-line="Flashare" guid="b60bc857-079a-438a-8b05-7dd278be49da" original-width="1200" original-height="1200" /][p]Even before the game in Brondby, AGF received an unexpected gift when FC Midtjylland could only draw in Farum against [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/nordsjaelland/2wZHnGDH/"]FC Nordsjaelland[/a]. The result meant that AGF just needed to win one out of their remaining two games against Brondby and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/viborg/v99EsEjo/"]Viborg[/a] to secure the title. [/p][p]With that ballast, AGF started on a bright note as a long-range shot from Gift Links tested keeper Patrick Pentz, and from the subsequent corner kick, [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/dalsgaard-henrik/27ecmYUM/"]Henrik Dalsgaard[/a] flicked the ball in to the back of the net with his knee. [/p][p]AGF left more initiative to the home team after the opening goal, and Brondby came close to restoring parity a couple of times. The 17-year-old Raphael Canut, in particular, wasted a glorious chance. But Brondby were then made to pay for their wastefulness as midfielder Kevin Yakob searched into the box and found the far corner for a 2-0 lead after 25 minutes.[/p][p]Brondby pressed on during the second half but couldn't find a way back against the Aarhus outfit. [/p]
