'You never know': Potter non-committal on latest additions after Sweden illnesses

[p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/sweden/OQyqbHWB/"]Sweden[/a] won both their home matches in this international window, against [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/romania/IaD8jZpU/"]Romania[/a] and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/poland/2HzmcynI/"]Poland[/a] respectively, to sit atop UNL Group B4 and remain on course for back-to-back promotions. Trips to [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/bosnia-herzegovina/fqe7WYTr/"]Bosnia[/a] and Romania before the window ends are sure to be huge tests for Potter's side.[/p][p]Not only have the Swedes lost seven players through injury since the initial squad was announced, but five players were confirmed to be missing the trip to Bosnia owing to a sickness bug that has swept the camp. To add to the difficulties, Bosnia will have added incentive to get a result in Zenica, as the match will be the last international for the great [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/dzeko-edin/zilGmgZq/"]Edin Dzeko[/a].[/p][p]To counter the loss of the batch of ill players, Potter has called up [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/smith-eric/remhb0a6/"]Eric Smith[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/beijmo-felix/Y7IoZEuN/"]Felix Beijmo[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/dahl-samuel/QeUL1GtM/"]Samuel Dahl[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/bolin-hugo/Y31lqVih/"]Hugo Bolin[/a] and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/sema-ken/8bzOQTcg/"]Ken Sema[/a]. [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/ayari-yasin/vTrnQI0N/"]Yasin Ayari[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/lagerbielke-gustaf/UwOm1wvF/"]Gustaf Lagerbielke[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/nygren-benjamin/WCHWGOvf/"]Benjamin Nygren[/a], [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/walemark-patrik/UJySysyb/"]Patrik Walemark[/a] and [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/stroud-elliot/4rVMk5Sb/"]Elliot Stroud[/a] were the quintet who did not make the trip to Bosnia.[/p][p]After an assist against Romania and a goal against Poland, Ayari is sure to be big loss for Sweden, but Potter remained defiant that his side still have the quality to replace the [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/brighton/2XrRecc3/"]Brighton[/a] man.[/p][p]"We have Hugo ([a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/larsson-hugo/K89S36S5/"]Larsson[/a]) and Jesper ([a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/karlstrom-jesper/UDGFZQv8/"]Karlstrom[/a]) who have done very well during the camp. Both are good options. Jesper was fantastic against [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/ukraine/j1JtDMwo/"]Ukraine[/a] and Poland in the World Cup play-off, and he started in the World Cup for us. Both are good players and if they come in I look forward to it," said the coach.[/p][embed guid="779cd61f-0c2c-4de5-9550-616654941bbf" url="https://x.com/svenskfotboll/status/2105732178361327780" social-type="twitter" /][p]Sema and Smith were both in Sweden's World Cup squad, Dahlin and Bolin have each won two caps and both received one each in 2024 and 2025, while [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/fc-copenhagen/hSPZwbEh/"]FC Copenhagen[/a] defender Beijmo is uncapped at senior level.[/p][p]As for whether these five could come straight into the side for the Bosnia game, Potter was sure they have the ability, but whether or not he would use them was a different matter.[/p][p]"It's a decision we have to make. But we're talking about Samuel Dahl who plays for [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/benfica/zBkyuyRI/"]Benfica[/a], it's not that he can't play football. Before previous squad selections, we've had discussions about all these guys who came in now. Now they're here and that's good.[/p][p]"But we have to be fair to these players. Is it fair that they come to the hotel tonight and that they will play a big role in the game tomorrow? Probably not. But at the same time, you never know."[/p][p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/game/soccer/bosnia-herzegovina-fqe7WYTr/sweden-OQyqbHWB/?mid=rkSjXGB4"]Follow Bosnia & Herzegovina vs Sweden on Flashscore.[/a][/p]
