World Cup-bound Cape Verde player under investigation for rape during FIFA Series

A Cape Verde player is under investigation in New Zealand after an alleged sex attack during the national team's FIFA Series in March.

[p]Michael Burgess from the [i][b][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/new-zealand/rLctHkpU/"]New Zealand[/a] Herald[/b] [/i]reported on Sunday that a player of the [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/cape-verde/MocyWdm7/"]Cape Verdean national team[/a], who remains anonymous, allegedly raped a person after the FIFA Series match against [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/chile/KUCG35cM/"]Chile[/a] on March 27th in Auckland. The incident allegedly took place at [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/cape-verde/MocyWdm7/"]Cape[/a] Verde's training hotel hours after the team's 4-2 loss at Eden Park.[/p][p]The New Zealand Police confirmed that [b]"an allegation is under investigation, reported to us on April 10, 2026, in central Auckland.
