The New York Jets have placed the franchise tag on running back Breece Hall after failing to reach an agreement about an extension, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

[p][a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/player/hall-breece/04PLecP1/"]Breece Hall[/a] was given the non-exclusive franchise tag, meaning the [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/new-york-jets/Q9nr9QzE/"]New York Jets[/a] can match any offer he receives, and he's free to negotiate with other teams.[/p][embed guid="d3cbdad4-e99b-437f-aea3-7f4c7bc4d860" url="https://x.com/Schultz_Report/status/2028868550941671518?s=20" social-type="twitter" /][p]The Jets have the right of first refusal, and if they refuse to match an offer, the team getting Hall would give the Jets two first-round draft picks as compensation.[/p][p]Hall, 24, comes fresh off the back of his best NFL season to date. As the Jets went 3-14, the former [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/iowa-state-cyclones/WA1NKNNj/"]Iowa State Cyclone[/a] put up 1,065 rushing yards in the 2025 NFL season, making it his first 1,000-yard season since being drafted in 2022.[/p][p]Adding to that, Hall threw a touchdown pass in the Jets' 39-38 win over the [a href="https://www.flashscore.ca/team/cincinnati-bengals/bwahmpRr/"]Cincinnati Bengals[/a] in Week 8.[/p][embed guid="d86e6459-c739-45e5-b0a7-4a7ecff65107" url="https://x.com/NFL/status/1982538282497094008?s=20" social-type="twitter" /][p]With the franchise tag, the Jets are set to pay Hall $14.293 million in 2026, unless the two sides can agree on a contract extension. According to Jordan Schultz, the Jets and Hall have been in talks and will continue to negotiate a long-term deal.[/p][p]The Jets and Hall gave until July 15th to come to an agreement.
